1971 ad: Volvos are built to postpone the inevitable

Volvos come in red, green, white, yellow and red. No rust. All cars will inevitably turn to rust. But a Volvo is built to postpone the inevitable. The outside is protected against corrosion with six coats of primer and paint. The inside gets five coats of this same protection. The underside is equally overdone. It's undercoated twice at the factory to keep road salt from corroding it. Particularly vulnerable metal parts (like rocker panels) are made of hot-dipped galvanized steel. At our factory, every car -- regardless of color or country of destination -- gets this same treatment. So whichever new Volvo you buy, it has an equal opportunity to become an old Volvo. Test drive a new Volvo with electronic fuel injection.
